This month's session, set for Thursday at 7:45 a.m., is full of great community information including key elements around housing and Kansas State University.
I'm pleased that our membership will have the opportunity to hear from the Kansas State University Vice President of Research, Dr. David Rosowsky. Dr. Rosowsky has a great history working in land grant institutions and is leading the university's prosperity plan economic development strategy. In about a year in Manhattan, he has already made a big splash, including helping lead the attraction of Scorpion Biologics.
One project that has received a lot of attention lately is a potential downtown affordable housing project from the Manhattan Housing Authority. The executive director of MHA, Aaron Estabrook, will join us to discuss the project and need for a new campus to replace old structures in flood prone areas.
Finally, we'll hear from Stephanie Peterson and John Verssue who will be giving an update on the city's housing study. The Chamber has advocated for an updated strategy in order to address workforce issues and we appreciate the city of Manhattan for taking up this effort.
Good Morning Manhattan has been a popular event for a number of years. When Covid happened, we moved this event virtual. However, we will be going back to live events in 2023. We will be excited to see this program back live, although look for updated changes based upon feedback from our members.
Please try to attend Thursday's event to hear about critical issues facing our community and region today. You can register here.
