[ARCHIVED] Chamber Staff, MHK Businesses Recognized

Monday email 20

First I would like to take a moment and brag on our Manhattan Chamber/Visit Manhattan team.

Visit Manhattan brought home the 1st place award for the Travel Industry Association of Kansas's Marketing awards at the annual Kansas Tourism conference last week. The TIAK Marketing Awards focuses on overall marketing initiatives and recognize state-level winners.

Visit Manhattan won the Online Marketing category for their February Ad campaign that informed travelers in surrounding states of our perfect destination for a romantic getaway. The campaign consisted of a social media video and a Getaway for Two landing page, highlighting many of Manhattan's bests for dinner, drinks and overnight stays. Their social media ad resulted in almost 20,000 link clicks and over 220,000 impressions.

Congrats to our Visit Manhattan team!

On another note, the Kansas Department of Commerce handed out statewide business awards at a ceremony in Topeka.

Manhattan-based Radiation Detection Technologies was selected as the Kansas statewide winner for Business Innovation. RDT was founded in 2011 out of the Kansas State University SMART Lab. They focus on manufacturing quality radiation detectors and detector readout-electronic technologies for use in industries like healthcare, defense and energy.

Other Manhattan businesses recognized at the event include Liquid Art Winery and Estate which was recognized as the Northeast Kansas region winner in the agribusiness category. There were six regional award winners across the state in the agribusiness category.

Merit award winners from Manhattan included Anderson Knight Architects, Garibay Lawn, LLC, HitchPin, New Boston Creative Group for HirePaths, and Olson's Foot Health and Shoe Service.

Congratulations to all of the Manhattan businesses for being recognized. We have a great business community in this region and I am proud to work at an organization that promotes the interests of business at all levels of government.
