We are seeing this play out in Aggieville. For several years there has been a plan to update Aggieville, which includes modernizing utilities, streets, and facilities in the state’s oldest building district.
There are many exciting things that have happened and will continue to happen over the next several years, including the construction of a new garage, new amenities and the new Midtown project by Back 9 Development.
There is no way around the fact that ongoing construction has made the experience of visiting the district more difficult than ever. However, now is not the time to abandon the merchants of Aggieville.
As a Chamber, we are encouraging each of you to continue visiting shops and restaurants in Aggieville as you have previously. There will be some challenges to access and parking. However, there are over 400 parking stalls in the new city garage that can be accessed easily from Laramie Street.
The city’s garage has some unique features including the ability to pay via a phone app or at a pay station. Our team has created a video that we are distributing that shows how to use both. The garage allows for two hours free, plenty of time to have lunch or shop at one of the local vendors. You can access the video here.
The Chamber will be working with the Aggieville Business District to forward information regarding construction timelines and access when possible. In the meantime, think about making a trip to Aggieville sometime this week for lunch, coffee, drinks or to pick up a Valentine’s gift. The merchants will be glad to see you and you’ll be helping some friends when they need it most.
