The 97th Annual Meeting of the Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce was an incredible event for the 400+ in attendance. In addition to hearing from our outgoing Chair Mark Bachamp and our incoming Chair Summer Ott Dierks, the evening was highlighted with our annual awards for Lud Fiser Citizen of the Year, C. Clyde Jones Volunteer of the Year, and the newest award, Young Professional of the Year.
Wayne Sloan was selected as the Lud Fiser Citizen of the Year. Wayne is a unique winner in that his father, Bob Sloan was selected as the Citizen of the Year in 1968. Wayne has a long history of service to the Chamber as well as the community overall, including serving as the chair of the Chamber in 2019. I couldn't be happier to see him get this honor.
Tracy Anderson was selected as the C. Clyde Jones Volunteer of the Year. Tracy has spent a great deal of time working on behalf of the Chamber's economic development organization since 2020, including fund raising chair for the economic development sales tax that year. He is also working diligently on a potential new aquatic center and serves on the Chamber board. Tracy is definitely a worthy recipient and we were thrilled to see C. Clyde at the event to recognize him.
Tara Grubb was selected as the Young Professional of the Year. Tara was instrumental in the relaunch of Hype in 2020 and served as the committee chair for the next two years. She has been active with the organization since 2011 and instrumental in its continued growth and success.
The staff of the Chamber wishes congratulations to all of this year's winners and looks forward to our next opportunity to hand out awards at our Business Awards Luncheon in September.
