Hopefully you have all signed up for this year's session, which once again takes place at the Manhattan Conference Center. The event begins Thursday morning and concludes Friday afternoon. You can find the schedule here:
This year will have four areas of discussion.
The first will be a follow-up on the three priorities from last August's retreat. Those items were entrepreneurship, child care, as well as building and site development for economic development. We will have representatives from the region discuss what has taken place since the last session and what still needs to happen.
We also will hear from regional partners that have developed strategic plans in the past 12 to 18 months. These organizations include Kansas State University, the City of Manhattan and Flint Hills Regional Council. All of these plans have significant economic development impact on the region and are important to our long-term success.
Finally, we will hear from five different groups that are developing projects that would attract new tourism dollars to the region. Some are further along in process than others, but all have the potential to increase visitors as well as enhance our quality of life.
We will also get updates from the Kansas Department of Commerce and Fort Riley.
Additionally, much like our last retreat, we will have several hours for open discussion and dialog to help determine a path forward for the community.
Hopefully you can attend. If you would like to register, please go here: https://www.manhattan.org/376/All-Upcoming-Events
